Dr. Huynh called the meeting to order at 12:03 pm
1. Course and Clerkship Review Calendar
- Dr. Huynh shared the review calendar to review all the clerkships and prioritized courses for the 2025-2026 academic year.
- CPESA committee member will lead the task
- Sophia to send out the sign up sheet to the committee
2. Step 1 Readiness – NBME Customized Assessment vs. CBSE
- Dr. Huynh presented on utilizing formative assessments that can measure student readiness for the Step 1 performance
- Dr. Huynh presented the class comparisons to the national average and the gaps
- Dr. Huynh presented objectives to increase student performance on NBME formative assessments to better prepare them for the Step 1 exam.
- Identify whether customized assessment weak areas persist into CBSE
- Determine if weaknesses are due to outdated CAS questions or curriculum gaps
- Provide evidence-based recommendations for curriculum and assessment adjustments
- Next Steps:
- Track CO2028 performance on CBSE and analyze the improvement index
- If the same areas of concern persist, then:
- Confirm alignment with USMLE Step 1 blueprint
- Incorporate more USMLE-style practice questions in those domains
- Re-assesses after interventions
3. Programmatic Assessment Report – Professionalism and Medical Knowledge Q1
- Dr. Huynh presented the Q1 programmatic assessment reports for 3rd year clerkships
- This includes reporting individual student performance in professionalism and medical competencies and comparing it to class performance.
- Dr. Huynh presented the data sources that are used to compile the reports and the different domains that are reported for each competency.
